Mount Carmel School, Gandhinagar is run by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, a Congregation of Indian sisters founded in 1868, by Mother Veronica, a holy and dedicated woman, in Bayonne, France who was divinely inspired to reach out to girls especially through education.
ToIt was in 1970, the Centenary year of the Apostolic Carmel, that the Government of Gujarat invited Xavier’s and Mount Carmel to set up campus in the then newly established capital city of Gandhinagar so that the school could impart quality education to the children of the Government employees. In 1983 the joint establishment of St.Xavier’s and Mount Carmel High School separated to form two different missionary schools due to increasing number of students.
This School is recognized by the Department of Education, Gujarat State and caters to all castes and creeds. Called to live in God’s presence and sharing in Christ’s mission to transform the world in love, we, the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, respond like Mary and our Foundress, Mother Veronica, by our lives of consecration.
